I'm Sofia! I create healthy, minimal and delicious dishes in a not so fancy kitchen! Hope you enjoy!
Austin is one of my all time favorite cities in Texas. I studied at UT Austin and so did Roby so we love it and it has a personal charm to it! Recently visited for my birthday weekend and here is the Eatery Guide that you can’t miss, there are so many restaurants I could keep adding more but here are my top favorites:
Tiny’s has been one of my favorite brunch and dinner spots for over 10 years. It was recently opened in Austin, Texas and I had to go!
Reservations available for dinner! Breakfast and lunch service Tuesday-Friday are light and casual counter service. Just walk in when you feel like a sandwich, salad or a cookie and lemonade!
Weekend brunch is full service, but walk in only. If they have a table for you, they will seat you right away, but if there is a short wait you can get a drink at the bar and pop over to Thompson + Hanson retail shop.
Don’t forget to check out their bakery, Milk & Cookies, which is open daily from 7am-9pm and is located right next to the restaurant in Kerbey Lane Village.
My favorite go to order: Chia Seed Pudding, House Migas, Southside Scramble + Cinnamon Roll or Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert.
Dinners here are beautiful and delicious as well.
Eberly has a beautiful dining room offering contemporary American cuisine.
I was highly recommend this restaurant for Brunch so of course I had to make a reservation and try it out. The ambiance at this restaurant is fantastic! Not only is it one of the most beautiful restaurants I have been to in Austin, but it tavern bar is amazing.
But honestly for brunch it didn’t live up to its hype, the food was decent. I personally think that this place would be cool for dinner and drinks at the bar because they have a beautiful terrace and an amazing bar!
We ordered: Smoked Salmon with a side of organic egg, Shasuka and lemon Ricotta Pancakes for dessert.
Josephines House features a small marble bar for coffee or cocktails, intimate tables in the dining room, shady nooks on our patio and a grassy front lawn for lounging. Reservations are recommended.
I wasn’t able to visit this restaurant on this visit but when I lived there I remember it has a fantastic brunch.
Some of the best light and fluffy pancakes I’ve had ever with the lemon flavor.
Juice Land features fresh juices superfood smoothies made with rae, cold-pressed and plant based milks, and delicious gluten-free to go salads.
I always order my favorite: Percolator because it has coffee and add in vegan protein such as hemp or pea protein. I also love the smoothie Moontower.
Uchi is very Pricy but so worth it. Located on South Lamar is the restaurant. Trust the server. When I studied in Austin I would always go to their Happy Hour, the sake social hour is one of Austin's fine dining's greatest deals too.
The traditional sushi is worth exploring, as is the popular hama chili with yellowtail sashimi.
Uchiko is truly as good as it gets! It is at the same level as Uchi and became one of my newest favorite spots.
If you appreciate fine dining, excellent service, interesting flavors and textures and high quality ingredients, save up and head to Uchiko.
We ordered: The Hamachi Sashimi, several nigiri items- the scallop was surprisingly my favorite (highly recommend it), the hot rock, the hamachi roll and the spicy tuna roll.
Sway is a convivial place to go with friends who enjoy sharing food together. Large communal tables and benches aren't the most comfortable seating arrangements.
It has been my favorite since I lived in Austin about 7 years ago. The food is beautifully presented and the flavors are sensational if you could get past the intense chill.
It was a great experience, anyone who has even a passing appreciation of Thai cuisine should try Sway.
We ordered: the calamari, green curry, beef fried rice, the famous son in law and tiger cry, the pad Thai ki and the Brussels sprouts which were delicious!! (We also got the crispy broccoli but I wouldn’t recommend it).
Swift Attic is the perfect spot for dinner and drinks before a night out! Nestled upstairs off of one of the busiest streets in Austin, the hidden attic serves modern and delicious shared plates.
This place is stylish, retro-chic hot spot perfect to grab a craft beer & cocktails.
Everything is seriously delicious, we ordered: the shishitos, the burrata, edamame, Brussels sprouts and kale cesar and for the mains the fire from the attic, Tender belly farm pork cheeks.
Condesa is also one of my favorites from when I lived in Austin… Happy hours here are great and they have the best Margaritas in Austin.
The menu was designed with flow and pace of eating in mind — a range of exploratory botanas to start, small plates for sharing with friends, and larger protein-centric plates for mixing and matching with your choice of tortilla to create your own bite.
Great for eating with a large group or just popping into the bar area for a drink with friends.
Hoppdoddy’s is a must, where they have a passion to bring you burgers made with fresh, all-natural ingredients prepared by hand. They have beef, tuna and veggie burgers. Salads are great too and their truffle fries are to die for, although ill always go for sweet potato fries. And if you are in the mood for dessert their shakes are amazing too.
Some other restaurants that I have been to or were highly recommended are:
Clark’s is a small chic West Austin neighborhood spot with a great raw bar, house baked sourdough, fresh fish, lobster rolls, pan roasted hamburgers and tasty libations.
Aaron Franklin’s smoky meats have risen from humble trailer origins to become one of the country’s most talked-about barbecue destinations (so much so it’s on both the Eater National 38 and Texas 38). Yes, you will wait in line. Yes, it will be worth it. Weekend waits can stretch up to five to six hours these days, so consider ditching work for a weekday brisket fix instead. If brisket happens to run out, try the ribs and turkey.
Launderette has a mediterranean-influenced menu means more upscale takes on on the usuals, like toasts topped with crab, grilled prawns, and burgers served on challah. Since pastry wizard Sawicki is involved, the birthday cake ice cream sandwich and other desserts are worth ordering.
Elizabeth Street Café is a neighborhood Vietnamese cafe and French bakery in South Austin opened in December 2011. The little restaurant boasts sunny dining rooms and a shady garden patio and serves fresh breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as takeout.
Elizabeth Street Café is known for: great croissants & Stumptown coffee, bánh mì served on house baked baguettes, fresh spring rolls, Kronenberg on tap, steaming bowls of pho, spicy curries, house cocktail & fruity boozy punch.
